Try not to be lured into credit cards, as the interest rates are quite considerable. If needs must.
However, be a “card tart” – set up your initial card with a bank that is offering 0% on balance transfers and purchases and then just before the offer period is up, switch it to another offer.
To make this work requires discipline, otherwise you will only fall foul of charges when the 0% interest period is over if you don’t remember to switch.
