June 22, 2007
Norwich Union was named as the UK’s worst car insurance company in a poll of 30,000 drivers.
The UK’s largest insurer was given the lowest rating in a survey for Auto Express motoring magazine and came last on a list of 45.
Readers were asked to give car insurance providers a percentage score which took into account communication, helpfulness, value an overall performance.
Norwich Union was given a 72.13 per cent score but sister organisation, the RAC moved up to tenth on the list with a 79.25 score.
NFU mutual topped the list for the second year in a row with 86.19 per cent.
Second and third spot were taken by motor insurance companies who specialise in older drivers Saga and Rias.
Norwich Union spokesman David Ross said: "Of course it is disappointing to be placed last in a league table. We are obviously pleased with the improved performance of the RAC brand, and are taking steps to improve customer service."

Noriwich Union have provided me with the worst service i have ever experienced in my life. They appear to go to greater lengths than any other organisation ever thought possible to frustrate and cock-up the simple. Take away their telephones and computers, they should not be allowed anything more than crayons and paper in a suppervised soft-play area.
