Building society tries to reduce bank queues
December 23, 2008
The Nationwide Building Society has made an attempt to try and cut down on the queues that it faces in its branches by changing some of its policies. This includes not being able to withdraw any less than thirty pounds from the counter within the branch, so that some of the queues will be reduced by cutting down on the number of people coming into the branches.
Customers will only be allowed to make bill payments over the counter if they have set up an electronic payment in the past or if they are simply transferring cash from one Nationwide account to another, which will also help to reduce the number of queues.
An official from Nationwide stated: ‘We constantly monitor the feedback from customers, and the queues and delays in branches are something that comes back as the main concern. These measures should not cause too much inconvenience to customers and we hope they will significantly reduce the delays in branches.’
Special cheque clearing has also been stopped by the building society, which could further alleviate queues, and customers will no longer be able to go to the counter to request a balance on their account or to get a mini statement.
