Would you consider helping the environment with a green loan?
December 28, 2006
Not many people have heard of green loans but they are available from many banks if you ask. There are two main types of green loans and one of them states that part of the profits earned by the lender for the loan will go to green environmentally friendly projects. An example of this could be if your area could be improved environmentally, say with extra gardens and plants and trees, you could get the money to purchase everything that you need to make those improvements, or at least the company would do them for you!
The other type of green loan includes one which the bank will give money to the borrower in order to buy a more energy efficient home. There are restrictions with this loan so you will have to talk to your bank about them.
Not many people know about these ‘Green’ loans as they are not widely advertised. The loans would allow you to help make the UK a more environmentally friendly place to be. So, whether you want to make improvements in your area or buy a more environmentally friendly home, it could well be possible if you enquire with your bank.
Another thing that you could do is to take out a green improvement loan. This will allow you to make improvements to your home in order to make it more environmentally friendly. The terms and conditions are similar to that of a normal loan but again it is better to go through everything with your bank first.
With more and more focus being put onto global warming and the effects it is having on the planet, the green loans may well become more and more popular as people find out about them. After all, if you are going to be getting a loan anyway, wouldn’t it be nice to ensure that something good comes out of it?
