Twins do better out of CTFs
November 28, 2007
Twins receive more from their parents into their Child trust Finds (CTFs) than single children, according to new research.
Engage Mutual, found that in accounts registered with the firm, the parents of twins are 40 per cent more likely to make monthly payments than other Mums and Dads.
Calculations from the company show that parents of twins pay an extra £18 a year CTFs than those with single children. A total of £141.96 compared to £123.84.
Karl Elliot, a spokesperson for Engage Mutual, said: "It is quite a surprise that twins are more likely to have a parent paying more into their Child Trust Fund than children who do not have a twin sibling and we can only surmise why this may be.
"However, the tendency towards older mothers to have twins could go someway to explaining why parents of twins are more able and prepared to save for their children’s future."
Engage Mutual provides over 130,000 CTFs for children in the UK.
