Flashy lights add value to properties
November 26, 2007
Stylish lighting adds to the value of a property and is very important in making a first impression on prospective buyers, according to one expert.
Ajay Vasdev, director of Asco lights, has highlighted the importance of avoiding what he terms "drab lighting" to avoid down-valuing a home.
He reported a large market for high-tech lighting systems, as homeowners aim to push up the worth of their residence.
"All the time…people use impressive lighting to sell apartments and it is always used in showhomes…they [lights] can help people to either rent or sell [their property]," said Mr Vasdev.
He added: "If you enter a property and the lights look very good it suddenly adds to the overall appearance of that property."
Advice from Lowes, the home improvement company, says that ambient or general lighting provides a safe and comfortable level of light and task lighting is best for intense light.
