Monday 27th is “Britain’s unluckiest day”

Monday 27th is "Britain's unluckiest day"The traditional view that Friday 13th is the unluckiest day in the calendar is a misguided one, as most accidents actually occur on Monday 27th, according to the AA.

Based on the insurance provider’s claims data, British people are more likely to make a claim on Monday 27th than any other day of the year.

Some 33 per cent of all the claims that the AA receives on this day are for accidental damage to homes, while 18 per cent involve ‘escape of water’.

Kevin Sinclair, managing director of AA Insurance, claims that the lack of knowledge about the potential dangers faced by British people on Monday 27th mean there is "all the more reason" to be covered for every eventuality.

"With winter coming on, now is a good time to check your motor insurance is up to date and make sure your home insurance policy covers you for accidental damage and breakages to household items," Mr Sinclair said.

"A small accident can have devastating results – if you’re properly covered, you won’t pay the price if you’re one of the unlucky ones this Monday 27th."

According to the AA, the traditional fear of Friday has its roots in the Bible, as it was on a Friday that Eve took a bite from the apple in the Garden of Eden. It is believed that the number 13 garnered its unfavourable reputation in early western civilisation when it was seen to represent devil worship.

The unluckiest day of the year is…

The 30th day of any month.

An alarming 2.9% of all deaths will occur on the 30th of a month each year. (The worst is December).
