Petrol price war continues
October 9, 2008
According to recent reports the UK’s supermarkets have moved on from declaring price wars over groceries to declaring price wars over the cost of fuel. With many consumers outraged over the high price of petrol despite recent drops in oil prices, supermarkets are now hoping to draw in custom by dropping their prices.
Last week saw supermarket giant Morrison’s drop its petrol prices by three pence per litre. The supermarket chain sets its petrol prices locally, but on average the price of petrol across the county has been dropped to 107.7 pence per litre for petrol and 119.2 pence per litre for diesel.
Over recent weeks Asda, Tesco, and Sainsbury’s have also been making cuts to petrol prices of offering money of fuel with shopping. An official from BP said that the firm was also taking action, stating: ‘We are dropping our prices by as much as 3p per litre at the majority of our company owned sites across the country and will be reviewing our position again in the morning.’
Officials from Shell have also responded, stating: ‘We price to be competitive. On Shell company-owned forecourts we shall certainly be passing on the price reductions to customers.’

why have petrol prices not dropped the same percentage as florida june 08 it was $4.20 per gal. today $ 3.19 gal On that basis our price should £0.90 per litre.
As always we get the talk from Brown but not the walk.
