Norwich Union comes off comparison websites
October 8, 2008
Insurance giant Norwich Union has decided to no longer be a part of price comparison sites, which means that consumers that now use price comparison sites to try and find good deals on their finance will not be able to view prices and deals on offer from Norwich Union. The insurance giant decided last week to pull out from all price comparison sites.
This means that Norwich Union insurance policies will now only be able through its own website or call centre, or through specified brokers. Direct Line insurance has never allowed its deals to be shown via price comparison sites, so there are now two insurance giants that will not be operating via these sites.
An increasing number of consumers have started to use price comparison sites over the past couple of years, and an increasing number of these sites have sprung up over the past couple of years. However, whilst consumers can quickly and easily compare prices and deals via these sites they are also urged to remember that the sites only cover a percentage of the market.
An official from Norwich Union said: ‘We don’t want to pick a fight with the comparison sites, but we think direct should mean direct. As a brand with 200 years behind it, we think that customers trust us.’
