Savings account for football fanatics

New ‘club savers’ accounts from Norwich and Peterborough Building Society will help League football fans save on the cost of attending games.
The average non-Premiership fan spends over £1,000 per season on match days, the building society’s research finds.
Norwich and Peterborough has received permission from the Football League to provide club savings accounts for 20 clubs and has signed up clubs including QPR, Crystal Palace and Millwall.
Norwich and Peterborough spokesperson Alison Rolls commented that while fans’ expenditure on big-name premiership matches was no surprise, "it can be just as expensive for the grass roots football fan to follow their local side".
A minimum investment of £100, or £1 for under-16 fans, gives fans no-notice savings access and interest rates rising to 3.8 per cent for savings of over £100,000.
The branded saver accounts also link to access to reduced club merchandise and ten per cent season ticket discounts.
Norwich and Peterborough follows Britannia and Furness building societies in setting up affinity accounts for football fans.
