“Photo crazy” Brits urged to show caution

"Photo crazy" Brits urged to show cautionBritish people travelling abroad are taking more photographs than ever before, emphasising the need for adequate travel insurance for valuable items, esure.com has claimed.

According to the insurance provider, the number of photos that Britons take whilst on holiday has increased from 49 to 86 over the past five years.

Almost a fifth of holidaymakers take over 100 photos, the survey revealed, while three per cent said that they take over 300 pictures, leading to a cost of over £20 for development.

Some 73 per cent of the people polled by esure.com said that they take a digital camera when they go on holiday, 72 per cent carry a mobile phone and 30 per cent admit to never leaving home without a camcorder.

"People rely heavily on their digital cameras, camcorders and mobile phones to make a record of their holiday but often forget their value and their susceptibility to damage in hot climes either on the beach or by the sea," said Jacky Brown, head of travel insurance at esure.com.

"Having adequate travel insurance cover is essential for peace of mind – especially when it comes to protecting these desirable and expensive must-have gadgets."
