Customers urged to confirm travel insurance ahead of half-term
October 20, 2006
Parents planning to take a holiday in the UK or abroad in half-term week have been advised to check the details of their travel insurance.
Holidaymakers should make sure that they don’t forget to take their policy details and contact numbers in case of an emergency while they are away, esure.com has recommended.
The provider claims that it is the first company to make insurance fully portable by offering a ‘pol-cast’ facility, which allows policy details and useful telephone numbers to be downloaded onto an mp3 player or mobile phone.
This service is expected to prove popular, with a recent poll by esure.com showing that 72 per cent of people will take a mobile phone with them on holiday and 30 per cent saying they own an mp3 player.
Jacky Brown, head of travel insurance at esure.com, said: "Parents should make sure they cover themselves and their children by taking out travel insurance this half-term whether they’re on UK or foreign soil.
"Holiday mishaps – especially where children are involved – can be disastrous and costly if the right cover isn’t in place."
