Couples urged to take out wedding insurance

September 29, 2008

Consumers these days take out insurance to cover them for all sorts of eventualities, with policies covering everything from safety during travel to the home, to the home and even life. Couples are now being urged to take out wedding insurance to protect them against problems that may arise on the big day.

The cost of weddings is getting increasingly high, and couples can now get cover to cover them in the event of a number of common disasters, providing them with peace of mind. This includes booking services and goods from first that go bust before the big day. Also, liability for damage at the venue is also covered with the policies.

A number of firms offer wedding insurance, from specialist firms to places such as John Lewis or Marks and Spencer. Couples are advised to check the details of the policy before committing to check what is covered and what the exclusions of the policy are.

Other things that may be covered include damage or loss of the wedding outfits prior to the wedding, and reimbursement of costs in the event that the wedding has to be cancelled. The price of the cover will depend on the level of cover that is taken out.
