New insurance package rewards exercise

A new life insurance package has been launched, with an innovative points system which allows customers to manage their premiums depending on their efforts to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Prudential say their Vitality scheme is intended to "encourage people to take control of their own health and wellbeing and to give them the potential to manage their premiums throughout the course of their contract".

Ways to earn points include going to the gym, stopping smoking and attending health screenings.

"PruProtect encourages individuals to take charge of their health and wellbeing and rewards them for doing so," said Shaun Matisonn, PruProtection chief executive officer.

"Through Vitality, PruProtect supports people when they are well, but is also better able to look after them financially when they are not," he continued.

The Vitality points system is an option with numerous deals from Prudential, including Life Cover, Income Protection and Serious Illness Cover.
