Students' financial backing to study overseas
August 23, 2007
Students wishing to carry out postgraduate overseas can gain "generous financial backing" to support their research, according to the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).
In an effort to "internationalise" research, ESRC explains it will gladly provide students wishing to study abroad with the financial backing they need and "positively encourages" those wishing to do so.
The council has £32 million a year allocated to funding postgraduate study and students with thoughts of continuing their research abroad are recommended to take advantage of the money available.
"We’ve got quite a generous overseas field allowance," says Jeremy Neathey, head of postgraduate training at the ESRC.
"If somebody wants to go and study in any country in the world, we will pay for them to go and do that," he continued.
The ESRC’s work is centred around shaping public policy and the effectiveness of businesses and organisations.
