Nationwide announces increased credit card charity scheme

August 31, 2006

Credit card provider Nationwide has announced that it is increasing the amount that it donates to charity on first use of its Comic Relief credit card.

For every Nationwide Comic Relief credit card opened and used after September 1st 2006, the lender will give £6 to the charity.

This is an increase of 2.6 per cent compared to the £5.85 contribution that the company previously made.

In addition to this, Nationwide will continue to give Comic Relief 0.5 per cent of the value of all purchases made with the credit card.

The card comes with a rate of 17.9 per cent APR, no annual fee and up to 56 days interest free credit.

Nationwide claims that it is one of the few providers on the market to incorporate a positive order of payments policy, whereby the most expensive debt is paid off first.

It also states that its card has no currency conversion or other hidden fees on purchases and withdrawals abroad.
