Barclaycard gesture to flood-hit customers
July 31, 2007
In a gesture of goodwill, Barclaycard have announced they will waive monthly minimum payments for those customers in Gloucestershire and other areas affected by the terrible flooding this summer.
The decision will apply to all customers in affected areas for the next thirty days and Barclaycard holders hit by the floods will be glad to know that no interest will be payable on the minimum amount and no late fee will be charged.
Amer Sajed, Barclaycard managing director for UK cards, explained the move was meant to ease the stress for customers currently trying to cope with the flooding.
He said: "Where customers have been hit by floods and power cuts, I imagine making a credit card payment is the last thing on their mind.Waiving the monthly payment means there is one less thing for our customers to worry about."
Meanwhile, customers of Abbey National had better check the expiry dates on their debit cards.
Abbey’s debit card manufacturer in the badly flooded town of Tewkesbury has been forced to stop production and customers in doubt are being advised to take out extra cash to see them through the week as a delay in the delivery of new cards is expected.
