Safe driving brings savings

Safe driving and staying out of accidents can bring in thousands of pounds of benefits over a lifetime, an insurer has claimed.

Someone who successfully drives without ever claiming on their insurance can save £10,000 over their lifetime, while even four years no-claims can save £203, Privilege Insurance said.

“The research shows that safe drivers are saving thousands of pounds by staying accident free, as well as making the roads a safer place for us all,” said Ian Parker, Privilege Insurance managing director.

“The lifetime saving that safe drivers can make is further incentive for all drivers to take care when behind the wheel.”

As well as better driving, other tips on reducing claims and premiums were given by the insurer.

Just by storing a car in a garage, making sure it is secure and resisting the temptation to upgrade can save drivers pounds.

Mr Parker also recommended that drivers took out no-claims protection so that if they did make a claim, they would not lose their bonus and savings.
