M&S, Smile take awards at Which? bash
June 28, 2007
Consumer watchdog Which? named Marks & Spencer (M&S) and Smile as two of the "best of the best" financial providers at a ceremony held at the British Museum.
Marks & Spencer’s & More credit card earned the store the best credit card provider award, while Smile took the best current card provider gong.
A spokesman for Which? said that Smile deserved the award for topping the best buy charts for seven years running.
He added: "What makes Smile a true winner is the outstanding customer service it offers – and if you need another reason to switch your account, it has a sound ethical policy too."
The Marks & Spencer card was praised as an all-rounder and said to live up to its company’s image of a name consumers can trust.
Eddie Nott, deputy chief executive of M&S Money, said: "The & More card launched less than four years ago and now more than three million M&S shoppers are cardholders, making M&S Money a top ten credit card provider."
Prime minister Gordon Brown made an appearance at the awards bash, albeit via video as his day was occupied with accepting the reigns of government.
