Money down the pan

May 29, 2008

Of the 150 litres of water we each use a day, 60 are flushed down the pan. Tip number one: DO NOT fit ‘push-button’ operated ‘dual-flush’ toilets, they leak 15-30 litres per person per day.

Tip number two: Stay with siphon toilets, handle on the FRONT, then fit the INTERFLUSH to convert the siphon to interruptible flushing. Instead of ‘press and let go’, which releases the entire cistern full, about 10 litres. The operation now becomes ‘press, HOLD DOWN to flush, let go to stop, as soon as pan is clear. Uses ONLY what is needed, saving about 30 litres per person per day.

Costs under £20, guaranteed 25 years, saves £ thousands over the years. See www.interflush.co.uk.

Norwich Union just cut their water bill by over 20% with the interflush. Barclays bank are also fitting it, tired of flushing money down the pan.
