Barclays brings banking to mobiles
May 23, 2007
As the internet banking industry celebrates its tenth anniversary this week, Barclays is launching a new service to make access to current accounts even easier.
Customers of the bank will now be able to benefit from the same levels of access as they would online over their mobile phone, thanks to the Barclays.mobi web link.
There are more than 1.9 million people who use Barclays’ internet banking on a regular basis and they will now, thanks to a new layout for mobile phone handsets, be able to view their accounts in the palm of their hand.
Sean Gilchrist, director for electronic banking, commented: "Barclays is constantly working to make the most of new technology and the opportunities it offers for accessing banking services.
"These days most of us are never far from our mobile phones and this new service means that we are now never far from our bank account either."
This new initiative means it will be even easier for Brits to stay in touch with their finances, which is paramount to stay on top of debt and budget for the future.
