High yields lure young to buy-to-let

March 30, 2007

Young adults are increasingly investing in the buy to let property market and becoming more professional in their position as landlords, according to the National Landlords Association (NLA).

High yields lure young to buy-to-letThe buy-to-let market has traditionally been the domain of older investors but the NLA claims that their younger counterparts are being attracted by high yields and are determined to take on their responsibilities.

Richard Gard said that buy to let landlords have a reputation that sometimes takes a "kicking", but that many young landlords are eager to conduct themselves professionally.

"I’ve noticed that it’s the young buy-to-let landlords who are very keen to find out their responsibilities," he told Assetz.

"They realise that they’ve got responsibilities and they also want to know their rights."

These statements come as research by Asstez reveals that the UK has the second most lucrative buy-to-let market in the world behind Poland.

According to the research UK the average buy to let yield in the UK is six per cent which adds up on average to a 63 per cent return annually on cash invested.
