Some of the best ways to save gas or electricity are found in the kitchen.
1. Use a microwave e.g To cook vegetables, scramble eggs, cook omelettes, make cakes.
2. A chicken (small/medium) only takes around 20 mins. Mushrooms taste wonderful microwaved without fat.
3. Need a mug of tea or coffee. Put a mug of water in the microwave for 2 mins. then use instant coffee or a tea bag.
4.. If you prefer to cook vegetables on a hob, cut down on the rings used by putting several vegetables in one saucepan (In stages because of varying cooking times).
5.Do you like warm plates. Put them on top of the potato saucepan while they are cooking, No need to use the oven.

These ideas are from a canny Southerner living in Yorkshire. Enjoy
