Little boy finds bank doors unlocked
February 22, 2008
According to a recent report a young boy aged just five found the doors to an HSBC bank unlocked even though the branch was closed and empty. The young boy simply pushed open the doors and ran into the bank to play with some toys, but his mother is concerned that it could have been someone else with more sinister intentions that managed to get into the branch.
Five year old Oliver Pettigrew simply walked straight into the branch of HSBC in North Yorkshire. His father was amazed to see what had happened and he immediately called the authorities to advise them.
Oliver’s mother stated: “We couldn’t quite believe it when Oliver ran into the bank. It’s our local bank so we’re in there all the time and he ran in to play with the toys. But it might not have been a little five-year-old who was looking for toys.”
Officials from the bank stated that it was an electrical fault with the doors that had resulted in the problem. One official from the bank said: “In most of our branches we have electronic doors so they don’t have a key lock and there had been a malfunction in one of the devices that actually puts the bolt across.”
In the meantime the young boy has been rewarded with £10 by the bank, which has been put into his account.
