The TK MAXX fraud continues

February 1, 2007

The TK MAXX fraud continuesIt was only a week ago that TJX, the company responsible for TX MAXX in the UK as well as Canada and the US, announced that there had been a security breach regarding credit card details. A hacker found a way to get into the system which sparked questions as to just how safe the system must have been.

Millions of people have been beside themselves wondering whether their credit card purchases could have helped this hacker to use their details. Well, now it seems to be confirmed that certainly across America, fraudulent details have been used from the TJX system. Fraudulent purchases have been made in Florida, Louisiana and even abroad in countries such as Hong Kong and Sweden.

It is feared that the fraud has spread further than anyone could ever have realised. The data kept on the system contained information from 2003 onwards and so literally millions of people’s information could be used over a large timescale.

It is certainly bad news for TJX who was more than likely hoping that this fraud problem would be easily sorted. The company has already promised to look into its security and to try and make it a lot safer than it currently was. They have admitted that the security which they currently have was not sufficient enough hence why the hacker was able to get in.

The whole fiasco will have left a lot of TK MAXX customers worried and it certainly makes you think twice about spending on your credit card just in case something like this happens again. However, security will be tightened and it is extremely unlikely that TJX would allow this to happen again. It will have already hurt the company’s business so they are unlikely to risk losing even more by becoming disgraced again.

My bank sent me a letter a couple of weeks ago telling me my details were found with fraudulent people.
I will never use my card at TK Maxx again! I’d rather pay cash or not shop at all. God knowns what could have happenend if people actually used my details!!

Got something to say?
