Don’t panic if your credit card application is not accepted
February 22, 2007
If you apply for a credit card and you do not get accepted, do not let it put you off. Many times people are turned away from credit card companies due to a number of different reasons. It is just a fact of life that sometimes you get chosen for things and other times you do not. So if you are turned away do not be disheartened!
One of the reasons which you may be turned down for a credit card is because the credit company have a specific target group which they are advertising to. For example, with a new credit card the company may be looking for people who earn a certain amount of money. Therefore if you do not make as much as they want you to, you could well be turned away.
Another reason you could be turned away for a credit card could be down to your personal circumstances. If you are a tenant with a slightly bad credit history you may not be offered a credit card. Similarly if you are self employed some companies do not like that as it is hard to prove your income. So as you can see, there are a number of reasons why you might not be fit for a credit card in some company’s eyes.
However, just because you do get refused by one credit card Company it does not mean that you will get refused by them all. It might help you to do a little research and find companies which suit your own personal circumstances. For example, even unemployed people can get a credit card from some companies and similarly if you are self employed there will also be a market for you. So just do your research and you should come up with a credit card company who deals specifically with people like you.

Thank you for this insightful information I have bad credit and have been unemployed since April of 08. I just need enough money to buy my kids something for Christmas. With this info I will keep trying to get a card with a low line of credit.
