Do you have a credit card you don’t use?
February 14, 2007
It is thought that many people within the UK have around 3 to four credit cards but they use just one. Are you one of those people and if so, is it really wise to be carrying cards which you will never really use?
Well carrying around a card which you will not use is definitely an unwise decision. It will not help you in any way and it could stop you from appreciating the benefits of other cards you could apply for. It is only really useful to have more than one credit card when you are actually going to use it to your advantage.
For example, if you use one card for you main purchase and the others to help build up your credit history then that is ok. By buying small things and paying the balance off I full every month, you can successfully and easily build up your credit rating using the other cards.
However if you are really not going to use them then get rid of them! Look for cards which have offers that you will use. You could benefit from low interest fees as well as 0% balance transfers. Both would save you money and it would be silly not to consider the option. Another option you might like the sound of is cards that offer cashback or loyalty points which can be spent on things such as flights. Make the most of these offers whilst you can, that way you will be able to make your finances work for you.
Overall there are so many credit cards available that there really is no excuse for you to not use them to your own advantage. So why not shop around and look for a more suitable card for you instead of wasting your time and wallet space on cards which you will never use?
