Budget airline launches credit card

January 28, 2008

Well known budget airline, Easyjet, made famous following the long running docusoap about its staff, has now launched a credit card, which is geared towards rewarding those that use the card and tend to travel. The card has been launched just in time for consumers who are planning to book their summer holidays up.

The standard variable rate on the Easyjet card comes in at higher than the average of 15%, with balances being charged at 16.9%. However, customers can enjoy a number of benefits. Those spending at least £250 on the card in the first three months will be able to claim a free Easyjet flight worth £40 including taxes.

Cardholders will also be able to claim 10% back on the purchase of Easyjet flight for the first three months, as well as on other travel related purchases that are made when the flight is booked. There is also a nine month interest free period offered on balance transfers, with a 3% balance transfer fee.

One consumer who has applied for the card stated:  ‘I’m excited because I fly back to Madrid, usually with easyJet, to see family at least once every three months. Often loyalty schemes turn out to be gimmicks, but I think with this one I will really see the benefits.’
