TK Maxx customers panic as theives hack card details
January 22, 2007
TK MAXX is a really popular clothing company with stores operating within most parts of the UK. Thousands of people purchase clothes from the company every single day and many customers use their credit cards to pay for their purchases.
Unfortunately as many people have now found out, paying with their credit cards was not really the best way to pay over the past couple of weeks. This is because TJX, the company that owns TK MAXX, has reported that a thief has managed to hack into its system, which holds all of its customer’s transaction details. This has understandably caused a massive uproar with thousands of people now worried about their details being used.
An investigation has been launched and TJX did contact the law enforcements as soon as they realise the mistake. However it will still not stop many people from worrying. It has forced the company into making some much needed changes to help them to become more secure. However, whether this error will cause the company to lose business or not remains to be seen. It certainly does not look good and people will be worried to sue their credit cards to pay in TK MAXX again.
The problem has not only occurred within the UK however as TK MAXX also have stores in Canada and the USA and information has already been stolen from there too. So, it seems that a pretty tough security revamp is definitely needed and until it is installed people are going to be less likely to spend their money within the store. Things like this can happen but you do expect top stores to have the best security. This kind of intrusion onto the system can have devastating effects and it only takes one mistake to have your business seriously affected.
