Need an interest free credit cardIf you are on the lookout for an interest free credit card after the Christmas period, you are going to be in luck!

Many companies are offering price wars in order to keep up with competition and it seems that some companies are even allowing interest free periods of up to 15 months. This will certainly appeal to many consumers and so if you are looking for an interest free card you should not have a problem!

It was actually thought that interest free deals were going to virtually disappear as bad debt continued to rise towards the end of 2006. However, that is certainly not the case and now we are set to see quite a rise in the interest free offers available. The offers are there not just for people who would like to get a new card, they are there to entice people with existing debts to transfer the debt onto these new interest free cards. However, if you are thinking of doing this you really do need to be wary!

Interest free cards are great if you need to make emergency purchases which can be easily paid off over the interest free period. However, for transferring your existing debts you really should be careful. Whilst you will not incur any more interest which is obviously an advantage in itself, it will be hard to pay off the full debt depending on the amount of it and that could lead to you getting into more debt at a later stage.

So, if you are going to get an interest free card, always ensure that you can pay off at least a large chunk of the debt pretty early on. It is easy to simply forget about the debt as there is no interest charge, however doing so will mean that you end up having to pay interest on the amount due after the interest free period has run out. This means that you really do need to keep an eye on that balance and pay it off as soon as possible!
