NatWest launches Polish bank account
January 23, 2007
If you’ve ever wanted to do your banking business in Polish, now’s your chance. NatWest has launched a current account for Polish speaking customers which aims to meet the banking needs of new Polish migrants to the UK.
The Welcome account is the first bank account with all services in Polish, including a telephony unit staffed by Polish speakers and internet banking services. The new bank account also allows people to access their funds in Poland. This was one of the key advantages desired by the nation’s 300,000 plus Polish speakers when NatWest conducted its research.
Most Polish speakers said they wanted a way to send money to family members in a cost effective and secure way. NatWest’s Welcome account incorporates a money transfer account. Account holders have their salary paid into the current account and can access it in the normal way. They can also transfer money into the money transfer account in the UK and a nominated person in Poland can use an ATM card from NatWest to withdraw it.
NatWest says that the account caters for the typical Polish speaker in the UK, who is a young, skilled professional here to work and save money. Sending money home is a key part of their experience. The bank says that according to its research, Polish speakers want to have their whole bank account package in Polish, not just part of it. This helps to ease the transition into the new country.
According to NatWest’s Helen Page: ‘This straightforward package is perfect for a Polish speaker’s initial banking needs because it provides day-to-day banking and a safe, inexpensive way to send money to family back home.’
The account can be opened with a passport or ID card as well as a letter proving employment. This product is available throughout the NatWest network and there is a monthly charge of £2 for the account.
