Loan sharks targeted by The Treasury

Loan sharks targeted by The TreasuryThere is good news for anybody who has ever found themselves a victim of loan sharks. The Treasury has announced that it is running a project which is set to stamp out loan sharks and give people more financial information. This means that they will have a better understanding of their finances and they will not have to rely upon loan sharks to get the money that they need.

Basically loan sharks are companies which target people and use as many tactics as they can, however nasty, to give people loans and get a higher amount back. There are even some criminals who offer cash loans and then they demand a ridiculously high price back. For the people who borrow from these companies it can be a nightmare and many are scared about the consequences if they miss a payment.

So, this new scheme set up by the Treasury is set to be a big hit. The project started out in just Birmingham and Glasgow, then it went further into Leeds, Liverpool and Sheffield. Now however it is said that the scheme is going to be run in every region of the country, focusing on the main parts of the country that illegal lending is more active. It is thought that it is the poorest areas of the country that are dealing with these illegal loan companies because they have no other choice. The genuine loan companies are not helping them out because they do not earn enough money to apply for a loan.

Overall this new scheme is definitely set to help a lot of people and the information being given by the scheme can only make things better. Knowledge is power and if you know everything there is to know about where you stand financially and what your options are, you are less likely to turn to these illegal companies.
